Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the SASSA Foster Child Grant, you must:
- Be a South African citizen or permanent resident caring for a foster child below 18 years old.
- Be a foster parent legally appointed through a children’s court order.
- Earn less than R180 000 per year if single or combined if married.
- Not be receiving grant for more than 6 non-biological children.
Application Process
To apply for the SASSA Foster Care Grant:
- Collect all required supporting documents like IDs, court orders etc.
- Visit your nearest SASSA office and complete an application form.
- Attach the necessary supporting documentation.
- An official will capture your details and submit the application online.
- If approved, you will receive an SMS notification within 90 days.
Foster Care Grant Payment
If approved, the FCG of R1090 monthly will be paid via:
- Direct bank deposit
- SASSA card withdrawal from pay points
- Cash payment at designated pay points
